Purpose
The
very mention of his name conjures up a series of fantastic spectacles of
awe-some miracles starting from birth till his niryana. wrought by a common
place hunter. He was born to Devaki and Vasudeva in Jail, but brought up in
Repalli by Yasoda. He is the ninth incarnation descended to kill Sisupala and
Dumrakethu. the sworn-enemies to righteousness. He enacted such spectacularly
awe-inspiring acts that he was deified by one and all even from infancy. His
destroying of several asuras sent by his own maternal uncle Kamsa. a remorseless
pitrudrohi are subject of eternal fascination, and the ineffable sports he
demonstrated for Jagadodharana are a legion that they threw a halo round him
while he was alive. His amorous Rasalila and inimitable diplomacy won for him a
reputation that can neither be clothed in any language. nor enacted on stage.
Barrels of ink forming letters on tons of paper cannot bring out even an iota of
his glory and power. Would Anantha with his thousand tongues atleast recreate in
sweet song. or plain prose the super natural role he placed on the sacred
Kurukshetra Punyabhumi? Have the excitingly thrilling scenes of ravishing
cow-herd bells of Repalle surrounding him and his dancing to their mellifluous
tunes brought out by Jayadeva in full ? Would any prototype of Chanukya emulate
his assmana Rajatantragnata ? Superlatives bend their heads. rhetorical flourish
dies down the moment it tries to capture his multitudinous myriad splendour.
So
temples. temples and temples of all sizes in multidenous shapes for adoration
are built and are being built to his chaturvamsi rupas and names. such as Kesava.
Narayana. Madhava. Govinda. Vishnu. Madhusudana. Trivikrama. Vamana. Sridhara.
Rishikesa. Padmanabha. Damodara. Samkarshana. Vasudeva. Pradhyumna. Aniruddha.
Purusothama. Adhokshaja. Narasimha. Achyuta. Janardhana. Varadaraja, Upendra,
Hari, Mukunda and Sri Krishna. But they have only neared the fringe of the ever
evading Harivillu. No human being and particularly Hindu is ignorant of his
adbhuta lilas demonstrated during his life in Dwaparayuga. And to be ignorant of
even one of them is to be far behind times and could be deemed a freak. since
his bitter inveterate enemies too have grasped atleast a few only to criticize.

futility like catching the wind in a cabbage net It is wise to visit as many as
to know the different facets of his form for profit and emancipation. As there
are thousands dedicated to him to various forms and names. only a few are taken
