NARASIMHAVATARA KSHETRAS IN MAHARASTRA

Raher - Narasimha Mandir

Situated on the southern bank of river Godavari, this ancient Narasimha kshetra is one among the four once famous temples of the Marathwada region. Of the four, this alone is receiving worship regularly. And its maintenance and glory are the primary cause of its luring a steady stream of devotees throughout the year. The entire temple stands on a high plinth adding grace to the whole structure.

Built in the South Indian architectural style, it possesses garbha griha, antarala, mukhamandap, prakara, mahadwara etc. During its heyday it occupied a covetable place. The Narasimha icon now worshipped is not so big or grand when compared with another imposing ones said to have been installed on the huge adhisthans matching their dimensions and sculpture. When and who are responsible for substituting it, the fact is shrouded in mystery. Though the icon is small in size, its pull is great. The archamurti Narasimha, due to giving sure and ready abhayam to the duhkarthis, its importance is waxing. Nitya naimithika worship is offered with due veneration.

It lies 60 km off Nanded, one of the important towns of Maharastra, accessible by four wheelers.
