What Every Hindu Ought To Know

SOME PROBLEMS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Hence we have to make vigorous efforts not only for sheer survival but also for winning back our erstwhile co-religionists by making proper adjustments in our society. Let us remember that the doctrine that a Hindu is born and not made, is absolutely false. For hundreds of years our Dharma has quietly absorbed people of alien faiths without fuss.

As regards the question of reabsorption, Swami Vivekananda's observations are interesting and instructive : "Returning converts will gain their own castes of course. And new people will make theirs." The advanced sections of our society can render signal service to the new converts by voluntarily coming forward to absorb them into their own fold. Shivaji Maharaja set a noble example in this respect by marrying his daughter to a Muslim youth brought back into the Hindu fold.
