- There cannot be the slightest
doubt that since the Vedas, South Asia has been covered by a
civilization, of which, these are the most eloquent, earliest
surviving expression. Indian culture cannot be said to be rooted
in anything other than the Vedas, not only because nothing older
survives, but also because nothing basically alien to them can
be located in any part of the land.
