That this teaching of
the Bhagavad-Gita is not any kind of Protestant departure from Hindu
doctrine but is a mere expansion of the principles enunciated by the
early fathers of Hinduism is seen from the fact that all that is
emphasised in the slokas collected in this chapter is contained in
the following verses in the Isavasyopanishad:-
Everything in the
universe abides in the Supreme Being. Realizing this, cast off the
desires that rise in the heart, for example, the thought of
possessing what is enjoyed by another. Joy comes by that
renunciation of desire. Do your work while you go through the
allotted years of your life. In the detachment and dedication
aforesaid lies the way for man to go uncontaminated by Karma, not
otherwise. |
