threatens. Thinking men have to cast about for some sounder foundations for civilization
and for the principles of international conduct if catastrophic misfortune is not to
befall the human race. If indeed one of the most ancient of the world’s heritages can
serve as such a foundation, its principles deserve to be set out in as clear a language as
possible for examination and acceptance by earnest men. |
