NAMMALVAR

Even divine beings and sages came to see Nammalvar, seated under the tamarind tree.

Nammalvar meditated under this holy tamarind tree for some more years, and departed form this world at the age of thirty-five.

The songs of Nammalvar are calledTiruvaymozhi. They form part of the four thousand sacred hymns of the Alvars. They contain in them the teachings of the Vedas.

Nammalvar taught us to praise God, always to say God’s name, and take refuge in God; God would protect us all. 

Nammalvar is also known by other names like Satakopan and Parankusan.

We should all visit the birthplaces of our saints. They are sacred to us.
