ST.PAUL

This was of great help to him in later years when he had no money.

As he grew older, his parents sent him to Jerusalem to learn under a great teacher called Gamaleil. Soon he became such an
ardent Jew that he did not like others who were not Jews. He even started troubling them by throwing stones at them and by other acts of cruelty.

Once the Jewish high priest sent him to Damascus with power to arrest the followers of Christ and bring them bound in chains.

Paul’s journey to Damascus became a turning point in his life.

While nearing Damascus, he had a vision. He saw in it a strong light, which almost blinded him. In it Jesus appeared and said: "Saul, why do you persecute me?"

At once Saul was convinced about the divinity of Christ. He believed Christ to be the God of Jews too.
