BIRTH OF CONGRESS |
|
The second
congress was held at Calcutta under the presidentship of Dadabhai Naoroji. 444 delegates
attended it. The third Congress met under the presidenship of Badruddin Tyabji. 607
delegates attended it.
On both these occasions the Governors of the respective provinces gave a reception to the
delegates.
As all great rivers start as a thin stream and the mighty banyan tree grows out of its
small seed, the Indian National Congress too started as a small conference and today it
has grown into a great political institution. |
