PRACTICAL VEDANTA, THE REAL
MESSAGE OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA |
|
Vivekananda was
a great reformer against the rigidity of caste, the mistreatment of women, and other
social ills that have become associated with Hinduism because of antiquated social
accretions that do not truly represent its spirit. Vivekananda showed Hindus that what is
wrong with India is not owing to its spiritual and religious tradition but because this
tradition has been misunderstood and misapplied. However,
Vivekananda was not just a philosophical Hindu, rejecting Hindu culture and history. He
also was a great lover of Sanskrit, the Vedas, Hindu music and all of Hindu culture. He
did not seek to impose this culture on others but he was happy to share it with all.
Vivekananda was a universalistic, who taught that there is only One Truth behind all the
religions, philosophies and sciences of the world. |
