TADPATRI

The local legend has it, that, at the very same spot, where the Ramalingeswara temple stands, Lord Parashurama lived and performed penance and tapascharya worshipping Lord Siva in his Lingakara. There is in the temple a perennial underground force from which water always oozes into the Garbha Griha, exactly at the spot where the Siva Lingam is consecrated. The icon of the Lord is uncut and roughly formed and hence the popular tradition is that the Linga is Swayambu or self manifest.
