This is a village about 3 miles north-east of Wazirganj and 16
miles east of Gaya. Gaya is the headquarters of the district of thesame name and is one of
the largest cities in Bihar. Gaya is famous throughout India for the Maha Bodhi temple at
Buddha Gaya (Bodh Gaya) and the Vishnupada temple in Gaya itself. It is to Gaya that
devout Hindus go in lakhs every year to offer oblations for the welfare of their
ancestors.
During the Pitri Paksha period particularly innumerable people from all over India
visit Gaya for offering sraddha.Gaya is one of the ancient cities in India and has seen
the best of the days of Brahmanic orthodoxy and bold of Buddhism and Jainism. This is a
district, which abounds in old temples and relics almost at every corner and even in some
of the in accessible villages. We have the famous Surya temple at Deo, the rock-cut temple
at Umga, the famous temple at Konch, Barabar Hill with caves, etc.
