THE GODDESS WHO HAS PERIODS

He directed those concerned to hush up the m and the festival continued as if nothing had happened. And he came to grief. His wife had unusual men bleeding. Pillai atoned and made a special offering. Then only did his wife get relief.

Sati's immolation

There is yet another legend regarding the origin the temple. Daksha showed disrespect to Siva, his in-law, by not inviting him to ft sacrifice he performed. Because of this, his daughter, Sati, who attended it dis-regarding Siva's advice was also slighted. Resent the insult to her and her husband she immolated her by jumping into the sacrificial fire.

The grief-stricken Siva carrying the char of Sati wandered here and there in desolation. To relieve him from this situation, Mahavishnu with the aid of Sudarsana chakra cut Sati's body into pieces. Where her limbs fell the place acquired Siva's Chaitanya.
