|
Suryanarayanan
was in the employ of His High Sri Ayilyam Thirunal (1860-80) under whose reign vancore
became a model state. His Highness had serious misunderstanding with him. So he expelled
from the state. The poor man somehow managed to r to Thiruvalla, on the sly and sought
refuge with Vidwan Bhattatiri. The latter gave him some divine man Armed with this the
Brahmin repaired to Chengannur.
Pushpanjali
There he conducted Pushpanjali or archana d reciting the mantras himself and the priest
offering the flowers. In this manner he spent 41 days worshipping Bhagavati. At the
same time a change took place in His Highness. He thought of recalling Suryanarayanan and
sent his men in different directions in search of him. By the time Suryanarayanan had
completed 90 days' bhajan, the Maharaja's men at last came to Chengannur and found him. He
was produced before the king who appointed him to a much higher post-Thasil Magistrate.
Thereafter he holds several responsible posts till his death. Every year he came at
least thrice to Chengannur to offer worship. It was from this time that Pushpanjali became
a regular offering here. Devotees offer this today in their hundreds and achieve their
cherished desires. |
