Festival
The annual festival at Ettumanur is in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March). It
lasts ten days and is a very major festival in Kerala, like Ashtami festival at Vaikom or
Utsavam at Haripad and Ambalapuzha. Though the finale, like all Kerala temple festivals,
is the arattu festival on the last day-which comes on Thiruvathira asterism - the eighth
day is the most important day of the festival, when devotees throng the temple in their
thousands. Especially after midnight on that there is 'Asthana mandapa' darshanam, when
the Lords image is installed in a specially erected mandapa in the northeast corner.
The mandapa is tastefully decorated with flowers,. leaves and red coconuts and the golden
!idol glitters in the profusion of lights.
