It
was difficult to say what these bricks were used for. In the old structure no material to
cement the stones appeared to have been used; they were so well set that there was no need
for a cementing material. But at places some strong cementing substance was also
noticed. Idols of various gods, animals and birds
artistically carved, and carvings of dancing girls exhibiting various poses and emotions,
images of men and women with drapings of the tenth and eleventh centuries were also found
in the debris lying to the north. The carvings of dancing girls were in the tribhanga,
dvibhanga and atibhanga poses; a few of them were carved standing erect. |
