"Several
attempts have been made to establish an All-India Sanskrit University which would
coordinate the methods of Sanskrit education in the country. Some enthusiasts, four years
ago, made an attempt at Agra which, however, did not succeed. Babu Sampurnananda is
recently trying to convert the Banaras Sanskrit College into a sort of University. 'Nothing tangible, however, so far seems to have been achieved, It
is of the highest importance to the country that there should be an All-India institution
which, while preserving the best in the old methods followed by the Pathashalas, will
re-orientate the out-of-date courses and keep alive the inspiration of Sanskrit and all it
stands for in the life and learning of the country. |
