It
must not be forgotten that if these institutions are allowed to die, it would not only be
a serious and irreparable loss to learning and culture, but will tend to lower the
standard of morals and outlook in the whole country. We would, besides, have allowed one
strong bulwark against the devastating progress of materialism to crumble. It is,
therefore, suggested that there should be an All-India Sanskrit University conducted by
the Centre. "It is suggested that such a
University should be at Prabhasa Patan in Saurashtra. Prabhasa, where the temple of
Somanatha stands, rose into all-India reputation, as a sacred place, contemporaneously
with, if not earlier than, Kashi. In the cultural history of India, the place is doubly
sacred. |
