RAMESWARAM

The Ananda Ramayana refers to Rama himself having undertaken a pilgrimage to Setu some time after his coronation Rama bowed to Vighneswara established by himself before (at Uppoor) bathed at Navapashanam, went to Devi Patnam, bathed in the Vetala 'Teertham (at Vedalai), crossed the strait, bathed in the BhairavaTeertham at Pamban and reached his own shrine called Ekanta (solitude) about, a mile cast of Tangachimadam. He got down from the aero-car (Vimana) with all- his retinue, proceeded on foot to Lakshmana Kunda (in Rameswaram), bathed in it, and also in theholy pool known by his ova name, the Rama Teertham.  

Then, after visiting Gandhamdana. HVI, hi first bowed to Viswanatha brought by Hanuman formerly and then wor shipped Rameswara, pouring water from the Ganges on Him. With hi! Bow-point he pierced an excellent spring called Kodi - Teertham in Rameswaram.
