Subsequently
became to Vedaranyam and
worshipped the Shivalinga installed by Sage Agastya for the same purpose of getting rid of
the sin of killing a Brahmin. It is also said that Sri Rama had to take bath in the
Hatyaharana Teertha in Misrikh in
Naimisaranya to purify him of the sins of
Brahmahatya for killing Ravana. This Misrik
is a creation of Maharshi Vyasa. The Maharshi mixed all Teerthams here. It said that the
Gods demanded from Sage
Dadhichi his bones, so that the Gods might prepare Misrikh out of it and destroy the
demon. The kind-hearted Sage agreed to this.
The Gods collected all theTeerthams,
and Sage Dadhichi took his bath here and
then gave up his body. The Hatyaharana
Teertha is very near Misrikh. |
