As
he used to take his food daily only after worshipping Lord Sundaresar at Madurai, he
installed Sundaresar and Meenakshi in Swamimalai and offered worship to them. Soon the
Kingconstructed a big temple.
To reach the shrine of Swaminatha one bas to ascend 60 steps from the foot of the hillock.
These steps are said to represent the 60 years, Prabhava, Vibhava, etc. Pilgrims offer
worship with coconut, flowers, fruits, etc. at the first step, Prabhava, and then go up
the hill to worship Lord Muruga at the top. At the summit of the hill there is a shrine
dedicated to Vinayaka. |
