Accordingly Tilottama regained her original form after a time.   Nandi continued his penance undisturbed. Pleased at his devotion, Siva appeared before him with his retinue and offered to grant him a boon. Nandi did not want anything for himself but desired that even the worst sinners should be absolved of their sins if they came to Pakshi Teertham and worshipped Lord Siva. His prayer was granted.

There is a temple at the foot of the hill known as Moovar Koil where are worshipped the three saints Appar, Sundarar, and Jnanasam. Bandar, who did not climb the hill for fear that they might pollute the sanctity of the hill by their feet. It is said that a Chola ruler of Mahabalipuram built the temple. There are two courts and a tank within called Nandi Teertham.
