The
prescribed place of Nandi, the divine vehicle of Maheswar is right opposite his
master's archamurti, outside the garbhagriha. Its posture is sitting. These
factors are universal and immutable. But in Vadakkunathan temple at Trissur, the
worshipful Nandi is at the entrance itself for a peculiar reason and it is
explained in the earlier section. The cause for its installation there when
enlightened, raises hands in prayer. And the mulavi rat's tacit approval and
person instrumental for it also equally
receive the visitors' whole-hearted veneration and full throated hails. Offering
obeisance, they proceed towards the sanctum.
