The
temple of Venkaliamma built in the Uraiyur area of Tiruchinapally, is one among
a few that possesses no tower over garbhagriha. Though it satisfies every other
aspect of Vastu and Silpa sastras, the garbhagriha above is unique. The reason,
the sthalagna says that unless the Mother is exposed to onslaughts of weather
and its severe impact, she can not realise the misery caused to her children by
the vagaris of weather. Hence her preference for topless garbhagriha. Good
