the the factors, instrumental for its glorious history - kshetram
deserves first place to be followed by thirtham and daivam, one
after another. The scriptures embody several accounts about
Indrakilaparvatha; river Krishna; appearance of Mata Kanakadurga;
demonstration of the sports of Lord Maheswar and its administration
by great rulers. Scriputures like Durga Saptasati, Devi Bhagavatha,
Vishnu Purana, Kalika Purana, Skanda Purana, Brahmananda Purana,
Padma Purana, Mahabharatha, devotional literature, travel accounts
and local histories embody elaborate episodes besides several
inscriptions found in and around the temple. None feels dearth of
literature for understanding the glory of this great place. The
corpus of available literature in every genre is so voluminous that
it is adequate for hundreds of theses, if patience permits and
interest encouraged.
