ALAMPUR - YELLAMMA & BHUDEVI AALAYAM

Renuka was his ideal wife, and a byword for matrimonial fidelity-Paativratya. She was bringing water with an earthen pot made of sand on the bank of a river near by after taking bath in it. And everyday a new pot at it. And this was the regular practice of the asram. One day, due to her misfortune, she chanced to see Chitraratha, a Gandharva taking bath with his wife in the same river, a little distance off her usual bathing ghat. As the Jalakrida was a little bit fascinating, she looked it for a little while longer. When she tried to making pot as usual with the sand, she could not, due to witnessing of the amorous sports of Chitraratha. Chastity was tainted for seeing such a lewd sight, leading to loss of fidelity So she could not make the pot easily as she was doing. Regretting, she prayed to her Patideva mentally. And lo! the pot came off well in seconds Due to this she went to asram a little late.

Finding the reason with gnanaetra, Jamadagni flew into uncontrollable rage and asked his sons to kill her.
