Sri
Kanyakaparameswari, the touch-stone of immaculate chastity
and impeccable purity that heightened the glory of Hindu womanhood is one of the
manifestations of Mother Parvathi, the Universal Mother. By her inimitable
monumental decision of Agnipravesa for cleansing
her sacrosanct body defiled by the kamadrishti of that lusty Vishnu vardhan
emperor has neither parallels is in the past, nor history and ingenuity of
humanity could ever recreate in future. She divinised the merchant community by
her supreme self-sacrifice and made the Indian womanhood adorable with
prostrations times umpteen and adoration with flowery sweet verses in number
unaccountable.
Such
deity of universal adoration is adored at Penugonda, sanctified in the dim past
by a Mahayagna performed by venerable Pulastya. The very same pulastya yagna
gunda was changed later into a big pond,
where form Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara emerged in the form of three lotus blooms
from a single big root is now called Penugonda.
