Located
at the confluence of small rivers - Bener and Majhi and among low hills, this
ancient town enshrines an enchanting mandir dedicated to Bajreswari Devi. It
was a popular temple endowed lavishly by the princes and pious philanthropists.
Its boasted of enormous wealth in the form of jewels studded with precious
stones of high value. And silver ware of infinite worth, so etched its proud
name on the pages of history. Regular streams of devotees visited round the year
in the past from afar and enriched its spiritual glory by celebration of
festivals and filled its coffers also. Unfortunately it also brought ruthless
invaders whose lust for wealth and power was unquenchable and irrepressible
Muhammud Ghazni invaded and emptied its vaults. And left if totally
prostrated, but later devout bhaktas - replenished it gradually. The Mother
readily blesses any devotee, the moment he reaches her feet with clean hands
and pure hearts. The beneficiaries frequently visit the temple for mental
solace and material prosperity. Daily worship is offered with elaborate rituals
and the periodical festivals are conducted with great pomp and splendour.
