It is here on
the banks of Souparnika river, Maharashi Kola found Swayambhu linga and
attained moksha with the blessings of Lord. Maheswar it is at this place the
formidable Saktis - Brahmi, Vaishnavi, Sambhavi, Kumari, Indrani and Varahi
supported by Bhadra, Veerabhadra and Gananatha waged a dreadful war against
Mookasura; it is at this holy place the ominipotent Sakti amsas of Brahma,
Vishnu, Maheswar, Muruga, Indra and Yama merged into the self-manifested
Jyothirlinga at the request of the Trio it is this place that proudly displays
the vestiges of the sacred shrine built by Trimurthis; it is here just opposite
the main shrine lies the famous Agnithirtha, originated and flowed down from the
Homa gunda of Artimaharshi; it is the Kashaya thirtha of this place deemed
and used as panacea for all physical ailments; it is one among the few kshetras
connected by a long water way in addition to numerous bus routes, and finally
it was the capital of Kamhasura built by Maya, the asura architect of great
fame. And with many more such memorable episodes intertwined with tile lives of
deva-dana-manavas, this mokshapuri is
occupying a covetable place in the history of temples of our Punya Bharat.
