Bhuvaneswar,
the veritable Hail - Hara kshetra and the metropolitan capital of the state of
Orissa has long been renowned as the jewel of eastern India. A casual walk along
the streets impresses the visitors with his walking through the historic past,
as imposing monuments in their majesty and loftiness greet the eye and lift
their souls. In and around the city there are hundreds of shrines beckoning

Among
the shrines sublime lying around the city, the Yogini temple situated in the
Hirapur is visit worthy and is dedicated to one of the manifestations of Sri
Sakti. It is built to the Kalingan architectural style and displays supreme
master of artisans. Of the unique features of this shrine, carving of Yoginir
images on black chlorite stone comes first. There are sixty four images and each
is a specimen of exquisite art. The temple houses in its well built mani-shrines
adorable deities too.
