  NARAYANI - NARAYANI SHRINE

Chilka lake famed as the largest island lake in India is possessing invaluable treasures in several forms such as acquantic fauna, charming tiny islands, migratory avian species etc. Nestling in the middle of coastal Orissa, it is occupying 1100 km area and connected to the Bay of Bengal. The little islands have great tourist potential and are preferred for week-end picnics. As water transport facilities are aplenty these are attracting a steady stream of tourists and theists also; for, some of the islands are housing small shrines succouring spiritual solace. It is indeed quite interesting to hear their colourful appropriate names such as Honey-moon Island. Break Fast Island. Narayani Island, Malabala island etc. The island Narayani is a much frequented picnic spot and is situated close to a spring of sweet water. There is a modest shrine here dedicated to Goddess Narayani. Small yet Sun blime this shrine is luring all types of visitors Its serenity, and divinity pretty lift the souls. The priest offers worship regularly with due religious fervour.

It is 25 km off Ramba, accessible by steam or country boats provided by Orissa Tourism Department and public operators. And Ramba can be reached by bus from Puri.
