The
glory of the Sun temple at Konark is so spectacular and superbly manifested in
the superb conception of resembling a chariot in motion, that the mother Earth
has not produced a similar even after the passage of some centuries Its fall too
is so
heart-rending and astounding that the remains seem bemoaning of their plight to
every discerning visitor, who sees with inner eyes and listens to its woeful
tale. Though everything is in pitiable state, devoid of worship due, there is one
small shrine that still narrates its former glory. Fortunately it escaped
invader's fury and fanaticism by a stratagem. It is the Ramachandi Shrine. Let
us visit and learn about the master strategy that hood winked a ruthless
iconoclast.
Ramachandi
was the presiding deity of a small, yet popular shrine situated to the compound
