The
word 'Mohini' recalls to mind two most unforgettable episodes and enthrall the
listeners and readers with the monumental role she played on two significant
events. She is an engrossing piece
of beauty that made the heads of the highest gods
too reel leave alone a witless demon Bhasmasura. Her exterior dazzle and hypnotizing
giggle brought signal achievements which the mightiest weapons could
not achieve. She captivated the heart of Maheswara and became his partner for a
while. Who was she? "I Wasn't she Srimannarayana's assumed form for a
purpose noble, and time critical. Hence offering of worship in a separate mandir by ardent devotees. Though the temples for her are not many, the existing
ones draw heavy crowds and are catering to the votaries emotional satisfaction.
This unique temple is found in Bhuvaneswar and is lying on the bank of the
hallowed Bind Sarovar.
The
story goes that one Brahmin developed extreme and uncontrollable devotion for
this form of Sri Mahavishnu and started worshipping her. Providentially those
who emulated him in exhibition of achanchala bhakti were lifted and they reaped
ethereal bliss. None complained of problems barring him if he soulfully prayed
here. So soon the number mounted.
