  TIRUKKOILUR - POONGAVALLI TAYAR TEMPLE

This sacred sannidhi forms an integral part of Lord Trivikrama's temple, a pilgrim centre of global eminence and the El Dorado of AIwars in particular. Both the archamurthis poongavali Tayar and Trivikrama swamy are known for their liberal grant of boons and so are drawing a steady streams of devout bhaktas since Krita yoga. Built in the Dravidian architectural style, this temple is vast in dimension, and majestic in stature. Its tall towers and sturdy prakara with mahadwaras proclaim the rich endowments made by illustrious princes of several dynasties. The Mother's sannidhi is independent and imposing in stature and superb in sculpture adornments. The icon placed on high dias looks exceedingly charming and is decorated with dazzling diamond studded jewels and fragrant garlands. In front of the principal icon is placed the processional deity which is equally rather more to profusely beautified with jewels. They are soul lifting and wring veneration, the moment one comes into arbit Elaborate prayers are offered every day with due rituals. As she is favorably disposed to her pious adorers, she is a much sought after goddess of popular acclaim. Though the shrine is quite apart and separate lying to the southern part of the main temple, every visitor invariably worships her with great devotional fervour. 

It is 35 km off Tiruvannamalai the famous Saiva kshetra, accssible by train and bus.
