  TIRUKKOILUR - DURGA TEMPLE

Tirukkoilur, the seat of Lord Trivikrama, the fifth incarnation of Sri Mahavishnu etched its glorious name on the pages of history and occupies the most covetable place in the legends of AIwars. This famous Vaishnavate yatrasthala deemed a holy Triputi with Daivam. Kshethram and Thirtham is attracting all kinds of the pious devotees in general and Vaishnavates in particulars. The temple houses in its spacious campus very many mini temples enshrining several potent archamurtis such as Mother Mahalakshmi, besides images of every incarnation like Matsya, Varaha, Kurma, Narasimha, Parasurama, Sri Rama, Krishna, Balarama etc. It is this uniqueness that sets it apart from other world renowned Vaishnava kshetras. In this holy sanctum there lies a separate exclusive shrine for Mother Durga and is luring many types of bhaktas. She is very powerful besides exceedingly merciful to the barren couple and particularly to those whose marriages are delayed. And victims of broken alliances too. By offering special pay as with vows, the star crossed visiting with sorrow laden faces return home with smiles lighting up their broad countenances. No dunkarti ever repented, nor turned oblivious of redeeming vow.

That is her speciality and that alone is luring steady streams of devotees throughout the year. Incidentally she is the sentinel kshetrapalaki of this famous shrine and is keeping guard the glory of the temple and its archamurti - Trivikrama swamy.  Elaborate prayers are offered every day and, each day is a festival day. Barren couple worshipping her revisit her sannidhi with cherub like baby in their arms. She is kamadhenu to all of her adorers.

It lies 35 km off Tiruvannamalai the world renowned Saiva kshetra accessible by bus or train.
