THE TEMPLE
The
temple built in the North Indian style is a singles celled one with garbha griha
and a big mandap in its fore. And they are spacious and modestly beautified with
ace sculptural pieces. The image of Vigneswar is facing east and the trunk
turned leftwards. Costly bright diamonds are embedded in the eyes, navel and
forehead. It is quite attractive and raises the hands of the visitors in
veneration at first sight itself. He is flanked by the idols of Siddhi and
Buddhi, his consorts. Elaborate prayer services are offered with rituals. In
addition to regular Ganesh Chaturthi festival, here is celebrated another
festival on a grand scale during Karthika masa lasting for five days. Being a
star attraction, it lures lakes of bhaktas, who participate lustily in all
activities. It is a muss-not periodical gala performance of the year and
attended by unmanageable crowds.
It
lies in Ojhar in the Junnar taluq of Maharashtra, accessible by bus from
neighbouring towns.
