Kandoba
Temple:
This
is a fortified temple built atop a hillock. The heroes were bees and
the evil doer - villain was Aurangazeb. Near the mahadwar lies a
small niche housing a Sivalinga and it is called Savalaksha Bhunga,
meaning thereby, that a bee is worth a lakh and a quarter of coins.
It has a fantastic story and displays Lord Khandoba's glory. It
exemplifies the universal truth that one should defend oneself
heroically and dependence of any kind must always be looked down
upon. It applies equally to super human super human beings
too.
In
further testifies that sacrilege ends in humiliation and
annihilation. The store begins with Aurangazeb's raid to the temple
in one of his campaigns, when he conquered the Daulat Mangal Fort,
lying at a short distance to this. Soon after the conquest, it so
chanced that he saw the Jejuri fort enclosing a big temple. His
iconoclast zeal and ambition for expansion at once ignited his
greed, so he reached it with army, but found the strong solid,
sturdy gates closed. Breaking open takes time. The next alternative
was to break the fort walls for entry.
