to blow up the fort, he ordered a hole to be made in the wall for
putting dynamite exactly at the place, where the Savalaksha Bhunga
lies now. Would Khandoba, the presiding deity tolerate such
sacrilege? Does it not tantamount to his helplessness, if the zealot
succeeds? So, he mounted a counter attack in an odd way; for, he
knows how to make the wicked bite the dust. There emerged then from
the hole honey bees one after another in quick succession.
Numberless and timeless.
sudden and unceasing emergence and fierce attack was beyond
explanation. They attacked the soldiers with great noise, covering
the whole body of each soldier. Tried however much, the army failed;
for, their numbers were increasing non-stop and noise was deafening.
So the bitten battalion, wailing told everything to their leader
Aurangazeb. He was confounded and found completely paralyzed. When
guidance from a Hindu soldier was sought for, he replied that
Khandoba is a powerful God and is ever vigilant to protect his
votaries. He would not spare sacrilege and avenge it in several ways
till it was totally wiped out. And added that by appearing him
alone, the trouble would be got over.
