Coming
to the miracle, the present temple is built at a much later date by
one Moreshwar Gole. It has an exciting background and is imbued with
mystery. This Gole was an official working in the treasury
department of the Sultan of Bidar. He was a great Ganeshopasaka,
known for his pious life.
With a view to popularising the Ganesa
cult, he renovated and spent lacs on the temple for making
additions, like dipmalas, aisles, compound walls etc. All from the
treasury of the Sultan's. The matter with mane distorted versions
and exaggerated forms reached the Sultan. The Sultan meeting him at
Supa, the headquarters town questioned Gole, but the reply was that
the coffers were kept untouched, and he was not guilty. The sultan,
on examination found the statement true. Would Lord Ganesh let down
his true devotee? Would the honest labour go unrewarded?
