TIRUVANNAMALAI - ISANYA THIRTHAM 

By his yogic powers, he helped many people in fulfilling their desires, like curing of diseases, solving family problems, promoting of business activities etc. A certain childless chettiar was blessed with a son, and another Odayar pining for the birth of a boy was directed in dream by Lord Siva himself to seek this Kandappan blessings, popular as the sage of Isanya thirtham. On the same night Lord Siva advised bhakta Kandappan to move to Isanya thirtham for better prospects. Desikar did as bid by Lord Siva and got great solace and name.

Later, when Kandappa Desikar went on ministering to the wants of sick and suffering, his fame spread far and wide. A European Collector suffering from incurable Asthma met him, and was cured miraculously. The Collector's earlier attempts at curing by the best medical men went up in smoke. It was a miracle. It cemented his faith in the Desikar, and so he wanted to give him lands in token of his gratitude and to help his ministrations encompass more sokarthis. When expressed, Desikar in his inimitable humility said that he could grant as much as he liked to Lord Siva. And added that haying renounced home and determined to be a celibate for ever, they would hinder his progress than augment them. He refused.
