BADARINATH
The Himalayan abode of Sri Maha Vishnu |
|
Narayana
is identified as Krishna, and he is regarded as the Highest divinity, and the
school that advocates worshipping of Him as the most High and is called the
Bhagavata Sampradaya, or the Pancharatra Sampradaya. In the Santiparva of
Mahabharata, there
is an abundant description with explanations about this Sampradaya. It sums up
that God after creating the-universe and filling it with plants and beasts, made
man in His own form and endowed him with rationality. Finding man realising
Brahman with his atomic power, He was pleased beyond description and offered him
a place next to Him-Nara by the side of Narayana. Mundakopanishad testifies to
this with symbols that man and God sit as birds on the same branch, one enjoying
the fruit and the other merely watching as sakshin. The immortal Vyasa was born in Badarikasram and therefore bears the Badarayana name.
