Enraged at her inordinate delay, he
dashed into the innermost shrine and found to the his shock the pedestal empty.
Presuming the running maiden to be carrying image of the goddess, he followed
her past-haste to the bank of the river Kushabhadra. There to his surprise, saw
the Goddess Ramachandi floating in the middle of the river, which was in full
floods. Unable to garb her, he went back desperate.
Ramachandi then advised an ardent priest in dream to build' a temple for her on
the bank. Her behet was carried out with donations from religious - minded
persons. Countless visitors offer ,prayers even today. Do your part."
After
worshipping her, pilgrims proceed to Bhuvaneswar.
