PRAYAG
The Holy Sangam

It bears on its polished surface 6 edicts of Asoka and poet Harisena's eulogy on king Samudra Gupta. Next to it lies a large pillared hall with exquisite paintings on walls and ceilings. Another visit-worthy place within the ramparts of the fort is the Patalpuri temple. It is considered to be the oldest and said to have been visited by Rama during his visit to Bharadwaja Asram.

Chandrasekhar Azad Park Amidist the imposing modem sky high buildings, this lovely park appears like an oasis of greenery. Its original name was prince Alfred Park, built to commemorate his visit. The patriotic citizens, later named it Chandrasekhar Azad Park, as a tribute to a great son of India, who gave up his life for the freedom of land: This Park also houses the far-famed Allahabad Museum, boasting of possessing innumerable art treasures, including the paintings of Nicholas Roerich. It also displays many of the gifts received by Premier Jawaharlal, the indubitable peace-lover of the world.
