So the Eastern gate was closed anon to prevent further loss.  So admission to the sanctum is now made through North gate only.  As the devotees pass through the corridor of the inner Prakara, they come across Navarathri Mandapam of huge dimensions, capable of holding thousands of persons normally congregated on special occasions.

At the entrance of the inner prakara there is installed the statue of the Kalabhairava and adjacent to it lies the Patala Ganga Thirtha.  Then comes the Dwajasthambha.  It is from here the unearthly splendour of the Virgin Goddess gleams into sight.
