Uttara
Mathura - Mathurnath Mandir
This is deemed one of the famous Vaishnava temples although no
Alwar offered Mangalasasana to the presiding deities called Mathuranathji and
Dwarakanathji. The shrines are ancient in every sense of the term. It may be perhaps due to the sanctity of the location on the river Yamuna, or some other
mysterious reason, it is included in the Divya Desams. It has some bathing ghats
among which Visrantighat takes precedence. Yatris invariably bath in it and
offer prayers to the deities installed in the two holy shrines. Deepaaradhana
ritual is observed with great devotional zeal everyday. This place goes by
another name of North Mathurai. The temple is built in the North Indian
architectural style. Profuse use of marble strikes the eyes in walls, ceiling,
steps etc. Modernity coupled with serenity exudes from the construction of these
shrines and they lift the souls of the pilgrims and tourists. The archamurtis
deftly chiseled are quite attractive in arresting attention at a single sight
itself.
It
is 120 Km off Delhi, accessible by train and bus.
