Bandapalli
- Sri Ramaalayam
This small but significant Ramaalayam had a
strange beginning, and boasts of certain
traditions, nowhere observed. In the past, this
little village had only an Anjaneya icon set up
under a tree. On account of crossing the
hurdles by the compassion of this lord people
were visiting more often than not, though it was
then a topless, doorless temple. The feudal lord
of this region deemed it fit to build a temple for
him. So it was done, and devotees evinced
great enthusiasm. Regular worship was
conducted with rituals due. Later, the queen
Ranganayakamma, witnessing tile ascending
importance of the archamurti thought that
Hanuman is to be invariably found where Rama
dwells. One without the other smacks of
impropriety landing on absurdity, so she built a
temple for Sri Rama just opposite Hanuman
Mandir. And introduced several novel traditions
along with periodical festivals and the like.
