HYMN TO THE EARTH |
|
O Earth, my
Mother, set thou me happily in a place secure,
Of one accord with heaven, O Sage,
Set me in glory and in wealth.
This hymn consists of 63 verses and is also called Bhumi Other scholars like Whitney have
also translated these verses.
It is clear from this splendid hymn that people were very happy and proud of their
motherland.
Scholars feel that this might have been the national anthem of Vedic India. |
