SIMHACHALAM |
|
The Sthalapurana
consists of an account of the foundation of the temple, and relates the well-known story
of Hiranyakasipu and Prahlada describing how Prahlada was thrown into the sea and how
Simhachalam hill was placed on top of him and how Lord Vishnu went to his devotee's rescue
and tilted up the hill, so that his Bhakta could crawl out, and how Prahlada in his
gratitude founded The shrine, where the Lord in his Narasimha aspect can be
worshipped forever. In subsequent ages this temple which was a favorite resort of
the Devas fell into disuse and decay. |
