THE TEMPLES IN BANKURA

Particular mention has to be made of the Siddheshwara temple at Bahulara.  Bahulara village is accessible both by
road and is about 3 miles from Onda railway station. Bahulara village is one the Dwarkeshwar River.  It is a very fine specimen of Rekah deul type.   Unfortunately the Amalak and Kalas at the top have fallen down.  The construction of the temple has been ascribed to Pala period.

It has observed by Shri Nalini Bhatta Sali:
"Siddheshwari temple at Bahulara in the Bankura district is probably the finest specimen of a brick built Rekha deul temple of mediaeval period now standing in Bengal".6  The temple has a clear impact of Orissan style and reminds one of the temples at Bhuvaneswar. The entire exterior of the temple is covered with very fine ornamentation and adoption of diminutive replicas of a temple.
