There is no
inscription on the body of the temple any-where, which could give a clue to the year of
construction of the temple. As mentioned such temples were mostly built in Bengal
from the 16th to 18th century.1 The present condition of the temple the style of the
construction and the engravers on the panels andparticularly the social depictions of
social events would go to suggest that the temple was built near about the middle of the
eighteenth century. The architectural and sculptural style of these temples mud-
bricks show a somewhat different stamp after the middle of the nineteenth century due to
the impact of the social and political changes brought in by the advent of the British.
